How floating shelf brackets work
A floating shelf bracket fixes to the wall, and the shelf slides over its rods or plate. Once fitted, no support is visible: the shelf appears to float. It is the cleanest way to display books, plants and ornaments.
Choosing the right bracket
The rods of the bracket should reach well into the shelf, so choose a bracket length close to your shelf's depth. The shelf itself must be thick enough to take the rods. Check the dimensions on each product page before you buy.
Fitting for strength
Floating shelves rely entirely on the wall fixing, so they must be fixed into solid masonry or timber studs, never into plasterboard alone. For visible supports that carry more weight, see our heavy duty shelf brackets.
